comment: Bono and Edge perform with Jay-Z and Rihanna at the London leg of Hope For Haiti Now, a concert-cum-telethon held to raise money in the wake of a devastating earthquake in Haiti. The song Stranded was a new song written by Bono and Jay-Z after the disaster.

comment: During a One Campaign trip through a number of African countries, Bono had dinner and drinks at a pub in Maputo. A number of musicians were in attendance and they performed on stage. One of them, Xavier Machiana, began playing With Or Without You and was joined by Bono.

comment: In lieu of U2 actually performing at Glastonbury (their headlining appearance the night before was cancelled due to Bono having back surgery), The Edge makes a guest appearance with Saturday night's headliners Muse. They cover U2's live classic Streets to open the encore. Edge plays true to his usual style; the members of Muse adeptly take on the other roles and produce a faithful cover. This is the second time a member of U2 has performed on stage at Glastonbury; Adam was first, appearing with the Hothouse Flowers in 1989.

comment: U2 make their first ever appearance at the Glastonbury Festival, headlining Friday night 2011. They were originally one of 2010's headliners but had to pull out in May 2010 due to Bono's back surgery. Bad is played for just the second time in 2011; Out Of Control for just the third time in 2011. When performed, Moment Of Surrender is normally last in the set - this is just the second time it appears in a spot other than the closer, following U2's appearance on Saturday Night Live on 2009-09-26. The set by Bono and Edge is the last of the evening and their performance features the live debut (and, to date, only performance) of A Man And A Woman, almost seven years after its release. It was dedicated to Chelsea Clinton and her husband Mark. Staring At The Sun is performed for the first time since 24 October 2001. Last performance of Miss Sarajevo until 12 May 2017. comment: Bono appears with the Metropole Orchestra to perform One in honour of Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn, who has worked with U2 many times over the years. Corbijn had been awarded the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Prijs 2011. Bono also recited Get Lost by Dutch artist Herman Brood, who passed away in 2001.

comment: After recording at the Electric Lady Studios, Bono, The Edge, and Adam Clayton (and Chris Martin of Coldplay) go to a party at the Inside Out studios - the people from Inside Out were involved in decorating the rooftop of Electric Lady Studios for U2's agit8 project filming that day. A tradition at Inside Out parties is for guests to bring a book or drawing, but as U2 did not have time to prepare one, Bono and Edge instead performed a song as their gift.

A report by the HSPH says that they "sang a happy birthday song specially written for HSPH". However, as we have no more details about the song, we have listed this performance under Happy Birthday. We do not whether Bono and Edge appeared live via satellite or if it was pre-recorded, nor do we know where it was filmed - it was likely Dublin, but we have given the venue as the location where the video was broadcast as part of the HSPH's celebrations.

Beautiful Day and Perfect Day were performed as a duet between Bono and Chris Martin (no participation from The Edge for those two songs). Good Times and Let's Dance were performed as part of afterparty festivities with Kidjo, Rodgers, and Chic.

The Ocean had not opened a concert since 8 June 1981. This is the first show to feature at least five Boy-era songs since 24 September 1984. Stuck in a Moment was played by Edge on piano - it was performed on the Songs of Innocence promo tour in 2014 but had not yet appeared on the Innocence + Experience Tour. At least one copy of the printed setlist did not include Vertigo though it did appear on other copies.

comment: Bono and Edge perform with an eight-piece string section for a CBS television special, Sinatra 100, broadcast on 6 December 2015 in honour of what would have been Frank Sinatra's 100th birthday. This is the first performance of Two Shots of Happy since 15 September 2009 and only its third performance ever.

comment: U2 headline the iHeartRadio Music Festival. With the exclusion of some small acoustic gigs and impromptu performances, this is the first time Desire has opened a show. It was performed in a style reminiscent of the Hollywood Mix. Bono repeatedly made negative references to US presidential candidate Donald Trump; fake dollar bills were launched into the crowd with slogans on them such as "Dis-United States of America" and "make America hate again". With Or Without You was on the printed set as the final song after I Still Haven't Found but it was not performed. The outro music was Patti Smith's People Have the Power, which in 2015 was the usual opening music at Innocence + Experience Tour concerts.
